Addressable Fire Detectors and Supplies
Description
Unlike conventinal fire detectors which do not allow precise localisation in case of a fire alarm, addressable detectors can be identified from the central unit by their individually given address and a clear text message indicates the distinct position of the fire. The central unit polls the status of each detector in regular intervals. At the same time it not only recognises detector faults but it receives information about pre-alarms or even the grade of polution of the detector chamber. Like the conventional detectors they have different detection characteristics which have to be considered during the planing of a fire detection system: Optical Smoke Detectors Intruding smoke activates an alarm in this detector. It is sensitive to smoke as it arises from smouldering fires even without flames. UV Flame Detectors Ultraviolet rays as from a flame will actuate an alarm in this detector. It is suitable for fires with only light smoke emission as from most burning liquids. Thermal Detectors A thermal detector is sensitive to a certain maximum temperature and/or a rate of rise of temperature. It is used in enviroments with e.g. steam or dust like in the galley, laundry or sauna. Multiple Sensor Detectors Detectors like the ACA-E have two or more different sensors like e.g. thermal-optical which enables them to react to different fire characteristics thus detection is more reliable.
